Shri Subrat Kumar Mullick

It is a great pleasure to know that the students of GCAC Khalikote are going to exhibit their creative works in the month of October 2019. Like previous years our students have exercised their talents in different media of Visual Art i.e., Painting, Indian Painting, Applied Art, Graphic Art, Crafts and Ceramics and Sculptures. To encourage the students 18 nos. of meritorious college awards are to be given to the students among which No. 1 award will be given to Shri Amiya Kumar Ojha, Department of Print Making for his wood cut print in the name of “Bana Bihari Parida Award ”. Further it is a great honour for me that Sri Bana Bihari Parida, an eminent print maker of Odisha, has donated a sum of Rs.1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand) only in a form of draft and deposited in the Indian Bank, Khallikote Branch. For continuation of this prestigious award, the annual interest on the deposited money will be given to a meritorious student in the field of print making every year. Thus, I am extremely grateful to Sri Parida. Throughout the year, to encourage the students to generate their creative force, we have conducted different workshops in this college inviting the eminent artists and resource persons.

Further, to enhance the creativity and exposure of the students, annual study tours are being conducted.
This year the ceramic media has been introduced for the first time in the Department of Crafts and “Ceramic. A good number of students participated in the workshops and produced beautiful Raku Glaze and Crystalline Glaze potteries.

This is not out of place to mention here that many new innovative exercises have been taken up at this end with full support of my higher authorities, colleagues and students.
I am sure the publication of the Directory will be of great use for all concerned and wish this Annual Art Exhibition a grand success.
