Indian painting has a very long tradition and history in Indian art,The earliest Indian paintings were the rock paintings of prehistoric times found in places like Bhimbetka rock shelters. Gradually the rich cultural diversity of Indian art is well reflected in the vivid, distinct and enchanting folk art and crafts. Various painting styles are prevalent across various regions, each representing tradition, customs, and ideologies passed on from one generation to other. Traditionally, most of the Indian painting styles existed as wall paintings or murals.
We believed in the traditional Indian techniques of painting, rejecting the materialistic art of the West and emphasising on returning to the Indian traditional art forms. Indian art and its art forms gave importance to spirituality as opposed to the West which stressed on materialism. We try to modernise the traditional and folk Indian art in new way with having the characteristics of line, colour, form and value as we seen in Odishan Patta, Madhubani, Pahadi, Mughal, Rajput and other Regional, National Folk paintings. In due course of time, urbanisation brought these painting forms on paper, canvas, and cloth etc. Indian painting styles are not just a reflection of the indigenous lifestyle but a perfect example of artistic expression through simple yet distinct compositions. The students here learn in several mediums that watercolour, tempera, wash technique and etc. on paper, cloth and canvases.
