Jayant Kumar Das (1962) was born in the village Athilabaj, Balasore, Odisha in 1962. He went to Government School of Art and Crafts, Khallikote and did his specialisation in Modelling & Sculpture in 1978 and received Odisha State Lalit kala Akademi Award in 1996. He joined as Instructor in Modelling & Sculpture in B.K. College of Art & Crafts , Bhubaneswar and introduced “Bronze Casting” medium first time in Odishan art education in 1987. After joining as Lecturer in Crafts in the same college, he introduced “Ceramic process’’in 2007. In 2017 he became the Principal of Government College of Art & Crafts, Khallikote and started Ceramic process in this college in 2019. In his life he has done many drawings, Batik prints and sculptures in bronze, wood, stones and several mediums. His bronze-sculptures have displayed two times in Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and many times in Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, South central Zone Cultural Centre and many more. After all he is most popular in making bronze sculpture have displayed in many private, government and public spaces in Odisha and abroad. He is live and working in his own studio at Bhubaneswar.
